WHAT IS GID?

GID or Great Idea Development is a service aimed at helping Inventors take their product to market. We are a group of people who individually, each have experience in product and business development. Collectively, in a professional capacity, we cover every aspect of a business that starts with a great idea, patents it, manufactures it and sells it.

Our passion is to use our experience and creativity to give inventors all the tools and resources they need to take their idea all the way to a robust, self-sustaining, money-making venture.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

YOUR IDEA

If you’re one of the many people out there with a unique solution to a problem, you’ve probably thought about making a business out of it.

THINGS THAT SEPARATE YOUR IDEA FROM YOUR GOALS

Inadequately written patents. International Patenting. Manufacturing process. Technical feasibility. Market analysis. Supplier and Competitor power. Startup Costs. Product Differentaiation. Sales and Marketing strategy.

Countless pitfalls exist between a good idea and a healthy, self-sustaining business. Ask us how we know.

YOUR GOALS

Time, money, fulfillment and exit strategy. All the things that you want out of your business.

GID  serves to minimize as many of these pitfalls as possible – including the inevitable pitfalls you don’t see coming. You can see more about the individual members below, but collectively we have been through the process of taking a product to market many times and we know what it takes.

THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH, RIGHT?

Right, that’s the case here too. We’re happy to come straight out with it – in return for our help, we’re looking for a share of your business.

WHY DO YOU DO IT THIS WAY INSTEAD OF ASKING FOR A FLAT FEE?

There’s a few different answers to this question, but in short it encompasses what we want out of an agreement, our experience of what startup businesses need. When it comes to an agreement with an inventor, we’re looking for an investment. Inventors also don’t usually want to drop a wad on a group like ours while they’re trying to get a business off the ground. So, we take great ideas, turn them into great businesses, and everyone takes a slice of a much bigger pie.

I STILL DON’T GET HOW IT WORKS.

The first step in the process is to get in touch. There’s no obligation at the start of the process, we’re excited to hear from people interested in what we do. We’ll open up a dialog and send you a list of questions about your idea that will give you a better idea of how we operate and what we can offer you.

WHO ARE WE?

TROY EVANS

OPERATIONS / VENTURE CAPITAL

Born and raised on a working ranch in North Dakota. His first “jobs” were entrepreneurial ventures raising cattle and crops. He worked in the insurance industry for 23 years in processing and claims adjustment, giving insight into opportunities, risks, and challenges.

Troy owns and runs various businesses in oil/gas, land and real estate, auto repair (to name just some). Beyond his skill in identifying opportunity and risk, Troy excels in systematically formulating the chaos of new businesses into order and productivity – making him an invaluable asset to the group.

NATE WILLIAMS

LOGISTICS / INVESTMENT

Nate’s day job is the high-paced world of energy trading. He currently works for Shell energy and is responsible for developing systems that account for market developments and movements for trading purposes. The dollars that have passed through Nate’s systems amount to billions (with a b).

Nate’s education is littered with doctorates and masters, he’s also an entrepreneur and inventor in his own right having co-founded an innovative cable railing system company.

Despite all this Nate’s a very unassuming and down to earth person with a penchant for others. We’re thrilled to have him as a part of this group.

DAVE MORASCH

PATENTS / INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Founder and senior partner of Spokane-based law firm SBMC, with over twenty years experience in engineering and computer-related technologies. Dave prepares and prosecutes patent applications in the fields of computer software, artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous vehicles, hardware, electronics, networking, IoT devices, information systems, communication systems, mobile and computing devices, and Internet-related technologies.

Intellectual property and patent laws are a major stumbling block for many product based start-ups, and Dave’s knowledge and resources in both are second to none.

MARK WILLIAMS

ALL OF THE ABOVE

Mark started as a warehouse worker filling orders for customers. 25 years later he has sold tens of millions of dollars’ worth of his own ideas. A serial-entrepreneur in the true sense – not just someone with lots of ideas, Mark has taken many of his concepts to full fruition as successful, profitable, self-sustaining businesses.

GID is Mark’s brainchild and owes its existence to him. Mark has a strong belief that the best way to be successful is to find people who can help you see the risks and opportunities that experience has taught them. For all his success, he maintains that if he had a resource like GID early on the difference in time and money saved would have been immeasurable.
